2011- new beginnings

Disclaimer: From this post henceforth, Miss Stardust shall write in a fashion that will be totally random to reflect the thoughts and little voices in her mind. The prose may not be clear nor flow naturally anymore. But this is MY blog and I write it MY way. Peace.

How wrong I was! 2010 WAS turbulent!

2010 turned out to be one of the most tumultuous year of my life with upheavals galore! Break-up, career changes, a totally new environment, new bosses, new enemies and even more new friends, new exes, massive wardrobe revamp.... some might view these as more positive than negative, but in truth, my over-exposure to the clubbing set has caused some backlash and some degree of emotional trauma. There were harsh judgements and rumours which caused tensions in my personal life and my friendships. The damage, once wrought, is hard to undo.

A kind soul suggested I head to do volunteer work end of the year.... build a school , home somewhat. People I meet would be nurturing souls who'd see purpose in changing the world rather than satisfy their hedonistic self with endless partying.... and I see what he meant. Why do people do that? For fun, to destress.... that's fine. But the lifestyle is starting to take on the meaningless. Aside from the friends I'm out for, there really isn't too much of a point. It's not like I'd want to meet dudes in the clubs or hang out with them.

Moreover, more than a couple of unsavoury characters have been spotted haunting my playgrounds. Which is TOTALLY NOT COOL. Need. To. Avoid. And then I'll need to appear popular, beautiful, successful, happy, radiant and having fun with friends, Why would I subject myself to that kind of stress? For wot? To please these unimportant people who mean jacksh*t in my life? they can F-off.

That aside, work is pretty pleasant. Intensive, yes, and I'm somewhat uncertain about the career potential, future of my team and relationship with colleagues. But I have a nagging gut feel that this is where I need to be. My bankers are amazing, lovely, warm ladies with big hearts and i've felt nothing but welcome from them. It's a constant learning experience everyday. Some days are good, some are bad, but generally, I've been kept happy by a certain Miss M, who's my new bestie within ML. (Miss C was my bestie in JPM but she's based in HK now). Miss M, though, is leaving for SCB and I'm tempted to go with her.... though I'm not exactly sure they'll take me based on my work experience. Burning bridges is the name of the game but not my game.

Will continue the rants later.

For now, it's Lantern with Miss C and then Butterfac. Woohoo!

La Turbulent (late) Twenties here I come!!

2010- The end of a decade and the end of Turbulent Twenties

Why, it was just yesterday we bade goodbye to the nineties and here we are at the end of the noughties!

Why should Turbulent Twenties end, you say? The answer's pretty simple. Cos Miss Stardust found anchors in her life. Not one, but a few. They provide her with safe havens to dock at and she's so ever grateful for them!!

Miss Stardust is also very much non-turbulent. Sure, life still throws her surprises once in a while (Keyword being surprises and not shock), but change is constant right?

She's very comfortable being with her other 'bear' and he's one of the major anchors giving her solace.

Listening to Liszt's Un Sospiro and blogging this post make me realise how much calmer I am these days, these years in fact. The next decade seems so clean and bright and happy and hopeful... like Edelweiss.

Here's to more happy bright posts in future!!

Identification pleazzzze...

Dang! People will start thinking I'm schizophrenic or something, so to clarify,

CJ=l'il claire= Miss Stardust

and

Mr G=Mr J.

It's one dude, NOT 2. I'm monogamous.

2 Weddings and 3 Funerals

CJ has mixed feelings these days...

It may be due to a variety of reasons like PMS, stock market plunging, the lack of cool music in her room, or Mr G's long absence from SG due to a certain blasted exam called CFA.

It may also be that life is throwing a lot at her right now.

Over the past week or so, she's witnessed 2 of her friends committing to walk down the aisle in July and one of them is dear Miss J, a sec school classmate, who went on to become an I-banker working in HK. (CJ's beginning to think I-bankers working in HK are a cliche these days. It seems like half the population I meet are I-bankers working in HK. Mr G included.)

I dunno HOW she does it but it's pretty darn AMAZING how fast she is at planning her wedding. And she even got a SPANKING NEW apartment in East Coast to nest with her love.
AND, she just graduated a year ago.... just as yours sincerely did! MAN!! Some people are efficient! Makes me think that I'm such a laggard and that's not a good feeling.

Then again, CJ does think that 28-30's a good age for such affairs, so well, HECK THE AISLE!!! It's playtime in Sunny SG in the meanwhile. Plenty of stuff to do and folks to meet.

The other chick's Mr G's close pal who's ROM-ing in July and moving down under with her love.

OH! And even S is going to London to attend her ex-flatmate's wedding!! And that's a whirlwind 6 months romance through 3 different countries. *sob* So romantic!!

CJ has some thoughts on all these hulabaloo. I went to 7 weddings in the 2nd half of last year alone, but none as close to home as Miss J's. Mainly cos the rest were all colleagues and friend's friend. Miss J's is the first invitation I received from a personal friend of my age.

Is this the dawn of a new phase or the end of a glorious era?

You see, life, according to yours sincerely, is divided into phases of what kinda events you attend.

In your toddler days, you get to attend birthday parties with nice lil goodie bags full of sweets and play 'Pin the Tail On The Donkey'.

This will evolve into real partying in clubs (birthday or not!) in your adolescence, and all the way through to adulthood.

Then all of a sudden, you start attending friends' weddings and this is a new phase of life, with more responsibilities and commitment thrown into the picture.

Then comes the baby showers and alarm bells should be ringing by this time before your ovaries start getting lazy and then closing business.

Then before you know it, it's time to go for friends' kids' weddings.

And finally, when you start to attend your own friends' funerals, you'll know your time's almost up.

So you see? I'm starting to attend my own friend's weddings!!! It's the 3rd phase!!! And the worst thing is I'm no longer all that euphoric about partying hard anymore. It's just tiring and irritating having to jostle with sweaty, hormone-raging teens in crowded, smoke-filled clubs reeking of alcohol. I've lost patience for good music to be played nowadays, when almost every hiphop joint plays the same kinda s**t, and you have to wait 2-3 songs before they play some decent music.

These days, live bands playing jazz and latin music is my thang. CJ's an old hag at 24. SO? Sue me! We'll all turn to old hags one day anyway, just a matter of time.

On a more sombre note, while I ADORE my work, my teammates have falling sick. The general health of SG's population ain't good. Aedes' on the rise. More void-decks are being converted to funeral parlours.

Somebody at my workplace passed away suddenly and his client did as well. It is a sad sad thing because the former was really well-loved by everyone, was a pious, family kinda guy, and his kid's still young.

JZ'z aunt passed on too. It's an awful awful feeling to have people around you pass away, but such is life.

Here's wishing that all these good people find their peace in Heaven.

For now, we, the remainders on Earth shall live through the full spectrum of life in La Turbulent Twenties!!

It's Mommy's Day!!!

It's Mommy's Day today!! So for all your brave ladies out there who took on motherhood for better or for worse, RESPECT!!

For putting up with looking like a whale for 9 months
For going through uncomfortable gynea checkups
For the labour ('nuff said. It ain't called 'labour' for nothing))
For enduring sleepless nights when babies brawl
For enduring puke, spittle, then later, chocolate smears, crayon stains and other nasty stuff on your clothing
For slogging hard to put your kids through school.
For opening their minds to wonderful stories and to the amazing world.
For laughing with them
For weeping for them
For sharing their dreams,
For the tender, encouraging love shown,
Always and forever...

Happy Mommy's Day!!!

I love Empress Dowager!!!

Shit, this celebrity-lookalike-thingy is BL$#DY Addictive!!!
Posted 2 up though I've done like 6??
Guess what?? I look 64% like Condoleezza Rice!! WOOHOO!!
*wait a minute, that ain't too flattering. Dang!*
Now, if only I had her kinda power...

My Celebrity Lookalikes

Boys will always be boys...

CJ's epiphany of the day is this...

The rich boys play in their rich playground---

Give 'em ze million-buck fast cars, model-trophy girlfriends, posh beach parties, holidays in Maldives, etc.

The common boys play in their common playground---

Ya regular local pick-up joints, the Honda and Toyotas, Sentosa parties, Zoukout, etc.

BOTTOMLINE IS THEY ALL JUST LOVE TO PLAY.

Of Stocks and "The Shelf"

YEAP... It's official. After 2 ulcers, some zits, SEVERE eyebags, puffy eyes, INTENSE sleep deprivation, drying up hair, non-stop bouts of sneezing, a mild flu, several tissue-pacs, and days of non-exercise later.... It's the weekend..... FINALLY..... *and about time too!*

Oh, and let's not even GO into the tonnes of readings and reports and my 5 seminars in this week alone and one awfully long company prospectus to go thru (it's FRIGGIN 424 pages) and analyze...

PLUS... I have to wake up at 6.30am EVERYDAY. It's fine and dandy if I can sleep by 12 midnight, but I can't!! CJ's body's all screwed up. You try to sleep at 11, lala-land comes at 2. Not exactly my idea of fun...

JZ said she could hear my brains grow. I just see myself drying up, shrivelling away into this wrinkled old lady who lives in a shoe....

A typical morning starts with my horrible mobile playing the irritating Pussycat Dolls song. At first I put nice tunes, but they don't work on me. It JUST HAS to be Pussycat Dolls cos they irritate me enough to get me outta bed.

Then it's tug-of-war time with my bro over the toilet for morning shower, but we've been civil so far. And all the way to to work, I'll be thinking about how tired I am and how I need coffee or green tea really badly...

Don't get me wrong. I ADORE my work. Let me just say that again. A-D-O-R-E.

I don't think i've ever been happier. Thursday was a 8am-10.30pm day and I was still perky and happy after it all. I may be cussing the whole world through the commute in the morning but once I get to my table, all negative feelings are gone.... poofed... Ze team members are nice, smart and driven, bosses are great folks and incredibly patient, I have watermelon juice and coffee to drink every morning.... Overall, life can't get any better.

Well, there were ups and downs, mainly cos I miss Mr J. And that occassional moodswing which accompanies the female procreation ability, but nothing a good bout of crying wouldn't solve... So li'l claire went out to give herself a GOOD cry over nothing in particular, got puffy eyes in the process, and came out of it feeling tonnes better.

Well, today's the ONLY day of this week I can do my SATC marathon, so I'm on Season 6 now. Anytime now, it's gonna end and I'm gonna have to jump.... or watch it all again.

Anyways, Mr J was entertaining me hugely by comparing relationships to finance and drawing really ZANY analogies along the way.

In stocks valuation, 'beta' represents the risk, and higher risk pushes the value down, cos it's undersirable.

So I asked Mr J what my beta was.... (I thought it was quite high, cos I'm so volatile and emo and I've all these baggages and I'm so feminist and critical of males, so the risk for him is high right? Cos anytime, I can crush his ego or something.)

And surprisingly, he said it's just like 1. Turns out he defines 'beta' in a r/s differently. High maintenance girls make for higher 'beta' for him. Oh well.

SATC Season 6 began with an episode on Finance too. Carrie says: "If you picked a bad stock, you just lose your shirt. If you picked a bad r/s, you lose your will to live..."

*so utterly true*

"And if the r/s is good, the stakes are even higher. And after weathering all the ups and downs, you could one day find yourself with nothing."

So why do we keep investing?

Actually, I have the answer to that. You're investing to keep that lil flame of hope and happiness alive. If not, what can you do? Just give up and stop living??

People still fall and love and get married in their 50s or 60s! Love if weird. It'll come at the oddest hours. But some people let their blind pursuit of romance and that tingly-warm-fuzzy feeling lead them away from their loved ones. And then when they realise that they've let someone really great go, they'll come to regret. Sometimes, comfort, acceptance and warmth take precedence over that butterflies-in-your-stomach feeling. CJ learnt this and knows this well enough.

No man? Who cares? Stocks make enough money to get you that POSH apartment called "The Shelf" even if you can't find one. And FYI, "The Shelf" is gonna be BIGGER than The Solitaire. UBER prime property. It'll command 4k psf. hahaha... I just haven't found a place and architect to build it up yet.

Just don't end up that shrivelled ol' woman who lives in a shoe.

You Likey? I Likey!

Besides working, yours sincerely here have been having an overdose on SATC. (I'm on Season 5 Disc 1. Have no idea what'll happen when I finish Season 6. Maybe I should just jump off the building. Maybe I'll just watch the damn whole thing again.)

ANYWAYS, there's this episode where Dolce and Gabbana dresses Carrie Bradshaw up for a fashion runway show and she went, "Me no likey!" or "Me LIKEY very much!"

Well, here goes:

Me 'likey likey' my blog skin and virtual pet, Wee Webbit. It's brought me tonnes of joy and smiles to people's faces. *I hope*

Me likey likey very much my new job.... It's really sexy and full of buzz...

Me lovey lovey that one impt dude in my life who's in HK, and whom I feel like dancing with to Moon River a la Carrie and Mr Big when Big left New York to live in Napa.

Me likey likey this rather INSPIRED phrase from SATC:

On the subject of being an eternal optimist: How do you bounce back when reality batters your belief system and love DOES NOT, as promised, conquer all??

So much meaning packed into one teeny sentence...

Ze Attack of Ze Frenchphile

Stumbled across this on J's bloggy. and.....

OH. MY. GOSH. This babe just SOOO makes me wanna go back to French and news again. She's DROP DEAD G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!!! Too beautiful to be reading the news, if you ask me. Then again, it proves she's one brainy babe. And the way she delivers her lines in melliflous French, like pure spring water running over a smooth rock, just makes ANYONE melt in their seat. I know I melted...

Tres tres tres Belle!!

Conclusion: CJ loves Frenchies!!

PS- My mom suddenly became nice and cuddly again... She's even cooking self-made dumplings for me and we're going for a walk together later! Awww....

Cold War At Home

I absolutely hate being home too much, cos my Empress Dowager of a mom will start acting up. I'm just thankful these will be one of the last few days she'll see much of me for the years to come.

First, she started off being absolutely supportive through my exam period and was so happy and proud that I passed in a jiffy. Things started turning bad when I spent a lil too long watching Ugly Betty and SATC. She'll pop her head in and scream at me for no rhyme or reason.

Case in point, one day she came home with lunch and I didn't even ask for it. And she said the person gave me brinjal by accident and it was meant for her, so I said fine then... I'll pass you the brinjal, no problem with that. She wasn't happy, saying I'll only have 2 sides with my rice and I said it doesn't matter. Then she insisted I tried the brinjal which was all mashed up and disgusting and I said I didn't want to politely. She could have it. She TOTALLY insisted again, and I started getting impatient, saying I never liked brinjal, then she started screaming that I'll eat whatever she asked me to. It was CRAZY!!!

I said I couldn't eat brinjal. Never liked it and I'm 24. I think i've lived long enough to know what I like or what I don't. She absolutely wasn't listening!!! Started screaming in the kitchen that I was this unfilial kid and all... MY GOSH!

Anyhow, I ate a slice just to shut her up. "There, happy?"

She couldn't say anything but heaved with anger while I scooped the remaining brinjal to her lunchbox. Then for the WHOLE FRIGGIN DAY, she gave me that cold shoulder and spoke harshly and curtly whenever I talked to her.

Scenario 2:

Just yesterday afternoon, she asked...correction, ORDERED that I was to help her dye her hair that evening. Asked if I was going out, and I said, yea, I'm going to gym, be back round 11-12ish. She wasn't happy it's so late, so I said, well we could do it now, i'll only be out in the evening, but she said she has students. Fair enough.

That night, I did my yoga class, ran a bit, had a nice steaming session and bath and was feeling rather dandy on the way home with my ipod and book, when she called. At 11.50. She started dyeing her hair without me and wanted me to be home IMMEDIATELY to dye the behinds. And I said, well, I'm on the train and there're 2 more stops to go, so she can expect me back in less than 15 mins, and she slammed down the phone.

When I got back, it was 12.05. BAD NEWS: she's done with her hair.

So I said, who did it for you? Was it my brother? She screamed she did it herself, and that if she'd waited for 10 minutes even, her dye would have dried out.

*cold shoulder as she watches TV*

Finally, she couldn't take it anymore, so decided to give me a thorough tongue-lashing.

EVERYTHING came out. I'm unfilial, I don't keep promises, blah blah blah... And I'm like COME ON! I'm only 5 minutes late and I didn't even KNOW you started dyeing your hair. Couldn't you have called me to give some advance warning, saying I gotta be home by XX time to dye the behinds?

Then she screamed that I'm such a bad girl to stay out so late (excuse me, i'm just gymming) and that because of me, she did her behinds and it was blotchy or whatever. Seriously, if she wasn't so hung up on the whole 'natural dye only' thing and only used henna dye, she could've gone to the salon and would've saved everyone a lot of trouble.

Scenario 3:

Lunch time a few days ago. Came back from grocery shopping saying she had to carry everything back herself cos she couldn't find her Easilink card. and she thinks I STOLE IT!?!?! And I'm like, well, i definitely have NOT seen your card and I have my own, why would I take yours? And she's like then who else wouldn've taken it? EXCUSE ME?? there can be so many other people? Why me???? Just cos i stayed at home? And she's REALLY PEEVED. Kept asking me why is it she can't find it.

So I just called my brother and asked if he took it, cos he takes public transport to camp every morning. And he did. And turns out she only has that ONE CARD in her purse, and it was a misunderstanding cos she told him to take from her white bag, but he took from her purse, WHICH made her unable to take a bus and she walked back.

In the end, she found the extra cards and the one my brother's supposed to have taken in her other bags.

Yea, so it's my fault again. For some peculiar reason, I was given the cold shoulder the whole afternoon again.

Scenario 4:

Lunch time. I had a late breakfast, so when she came back with food, I didn't really wanna eat it. After opening the door for her, I ran upstairs to do the unglamourous (ie. pee). She screamed at me saying "Didn't you say you wanna eat?", and I replied, "Hold on, ok? I'm in the loo" And she screamed as if it's my fault "Zao3 bu shang4, wan3 bu shang4, pian1 pian1 zhe4 ge shi2 hou4 shang4" (translation: Why do you have to do it now, and not earlier nor later?)

And I'm just shocked that she even finds fault with answering the call of nature!!

And then there are all the age-old scenarios which everyone knows by now..... how she thinks all clubs/pubs/night spots (even live jazz pubs) are bad places, filled with smoke, drugs and people who prostitute themselves; how she hates me staying out late cos it means i'll be cabbing back with the midnight surcharge; how she's icky about sleepovers; the curfew she's set for me (I'm 24 for heaven's sake!).

She even hates SATC!!! Can't understand why 4 women have seemingly nothing to do in their lives but get together and talk about sex. And she's so afriad I'll become like them, and she'll ask, Am I like them??

So I told her, it's a lot more than that. There're a lot of relationship issues discussed as well, and these are successful career women with character who run their own lives. I don't agree with them all the time especially pertaining to sexual freedom, but there're other stuff which I can relate to, like Mr Big the asshole.

And she'll say, "In my days..... " blah blah blah, which just makes me REALLY feel like rolling my eyes, only I can't do that. I can only appeal to her logic, but she's really emotional...WOMEN!
Correction: Menopausal women are a force to be reckoned with.

Then again, so are PMS-ing women. Hah!

Inane Blog Things

How You Are In Love

You take a while to fall in love with someone. Trust takes time.
You tend to take more than give in relationships. You need your space and privacy. You don't like to be smothered.
You love your partner unconditionally and don't try to make them change.
You stay in love for a long time, even if you aren't loved back. When you fall, you fall hard.

You Are 30% Weird

Not enough to scare other people...
But sometimes you scare yourself.

You True Love Will Find You

When it comes to love (and life), you totally put yourself out there.
It's very easy for you to find love - and for love to find you.
The best part is, you're never even actively looking to meet someone.
You're just out there so much that love always seems to come your way.

Your Drag Queen Name Is:

Tess Tosterone

Your Japanese Name Is...

Nozomi Kujo

Guys Like That You're Sensitive

And not in that "cry at a drop of a hat" sort of way
You just get most guys - even if you're not trying to
Guys find it is easy to confide in you and tell you their secrets
No wonder you tend to get close quickly in relationships!

You Are Low Maintenance

Otherwise known as "too good to be true"
You're one laid back chica - and men love that!
Just remember that no good guy likes a dormat.
So if you find your self going along to get along...
Stop yourself and put up a little bit of a fight.

You Are Rocky Road Ice Cream

Unpredictable and wild, you know how to have fun.
You're also a trendsetter who takes risks with new things.
You know about the latest and greatest - and may have invented it!
You are most compatible with vanilla ice cream.

Your Ideal Pet is a Bird

You're both very smart, very expressive, and very temperamental.
You're as likely to bite your bird as it is to bite you.

Your Elf Name Is...

Happy Eggnog Breath

You Are Likely a First Born

At your darkest moments, you feel guilty.
At work and school, you do best when you're researching.
When you love someone, you tend to agree with them often.
In friendship, you are considerate and compromising.
Your ideal careers are: business, research, counseling, promotion, and speaking.
You will leave your mark on the world with discoveries, new information, and teaching people to dream.

You Are a Kogyaru!

If it's cute, you'll wear it. Fake and bake, hair bleach, and bright makeup line your bathroom cabinet.
As for clothes - anything that's short and cute ("kawaii!").
You are the prize object of all sorts of men - but you are really looking for a rich foreign guy.
He'll find you out hanging out in Shibuya shopping at the 109, text messaging and sending photos over your cellphone.

The Movie Of Your Life Is Film Noir

So what if you're a little nihilistic at times?
Life with meaning is highly over-rated.

Your best movie matches: Sin City, L. A. Confidential, Blade Runner

Runaway Love

Once in a while, you come across movies or music videos with powerful messages which break your heart. This is one of such:

Runaway Love- Mary J. Blige and Ludacris

I HATE violence against women and children. HATE it! Parents should be more responsible. Don't make your kids suffer for your mistakes! Men should think before they act. The consequences of your actions reach far beyond your imagination and those few minutes of pleasure. And assholes whose only motivation in life is to get the next lay, YOU SHOULDN'T BE ALIVE!

You contribute to the sex trade in 3rd world countries, loads of abuse and child paedophilia which you will NEVER BE ABLE TO IMAGINE being inflicted on yourself. Do you have any idea how many missing women there are in the world? From just China alone, there are 44 million missing women.

Ever watched Lilya 4ever?

And here we are, being pissed with Japan for the denial of the 'comfort women' issue. But think about it, isn't it worse to kidnap girls and sexually enslave them FOR A PROFIT? At least the Japanese didn't make commercial gains, though that is not to say that what they did was any less of a crime.

So from this aspect, humanity didn't really evolve since post-WWII days but regressed into greater evil.

Child-Rearing and Stargazing

OH MY GOSH!!! I LURRRRRVE UGLY BETTY TO BITS!!!

Along with the many episodes of Sex and the City I've been watching while waiting for new job to start. Thank goodness for sitcoms! Else i'd be bored to tears... Well, actually not. I'm pretty hooked on Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince too. Need to finish it before the last instalment of the Potter series launches...

Mr G's back in town!!! And we went out to celebrate his brothers' birthdays today. Twas quite cool cos I got to play with his baby godson, Baby I, who's SUCH a cute darling...

And he's sucha hyper-kid who climbs here, zooms there, falls EVERYWHERE... l'il ball of a human who fancies himself a star and makes his rounds waving to everyone. And he watches Barney and Friends!!

Playing with Baby I is hardwork, and gives a lil preview to what parenthood will be like. And MAN, I don't even wanna go there. Attended a colleague's baby shower last week and here's her typical day of babysitting...

24 hours is split into 6 cycles of 4 hours each, of which the 1st 5-10 minutes is spent preparing the milk, then the actual feeding of the baby lasts about half an hour. After that you gotta rock the baby and rub his tummy so that he digests the milk and this lasts 50 minutes, then you put the baby to rest- 20 mins. SO FINALLY, you only have about 2 hours left to do your own thing before the next cycle begins.

NB: You have to do it deep into the night, in the dawn, or whatever time it is... else people accuse you of infanticide...

Conclusion? Mothers should be paid higher than investment bankers for the kinda work they put in man... IT'S TOUGH WORK!

Post babyplay, went to Kino and HK Cafe for a while with Mr G. Food was to-die-for!

Caught a play, A Brief Affair With Infinity, written and staged by an ex-classmate, JC, at The Artshouse later in the evening. She did a friggin fantastic monologue for 1 friggin fantastic hour... RESPECT! Loved the wordings and nuances of her movements. I haven't heard such beautiful language in a while and they just blew me away... Got me in touch with my inner theatrephile again and t'was awesome to catch up with CS peeps after a year. Somehow, the buzz I feel with CS peeps and theatre is just SO unique and different from banking. Banking's language is so... functional.... so purposeful, so economical, so matter-of-fact and logical. Theatre's language is so emotive, powerful, ALIVE!!

I think that's the main reason Mr G said I sounded perky afterwards. It's because I heard something 'living' and it fed my soul. Soulfood's what I call it. And boy, am I glad I have such UBER-talented friends!

Sunday's churchy-time with my pretty pink bible *pronounced (Bee-Bleh)*. Then Mr G's sis invited me over to lunch on her excellent cooking. L'il Claire had a BAGUS meal... heehee

Joined E at a jazz jamming session and sang 2 highly-embarassing songs. Yours sincerely here tried to sing the Pussycat Dolls version of 'Sway' and well, I think the most recent artiste these people know of is Lionel Richie, so you can imagine the fiasco that ensued. They got lost, I got lost... but only towards the end. Otherwise, it's an awesome rendition and they were fantastic musicians and I had LOADSA fun! *looking forward to next Sunday already*

S and J quarrelled, so mr tan and I went over to do damage control, but ended up have a Singapore-Franco exchange with S's flatmate, Frenchie. We hatched a cool plan to vote Frenchie into Cl*o's 50 El*g*ble Bachelors next year and sign ourselves up for S*U, that match-making institution, just for fun.

So there it is... Another weekend of la turbulent twenties. Before I leave, here's the IT SONG of the moment by Kelis:

Lil Star

There is nothing special about me
I am just a lil star
If it seems like I'm shining
It's probably a reflection of something you already are
I forget about myself sometime
When there's so many other around
When deep inside you feel the darkest
That is where I can always be found
That is where I can always be found
That is where I can always be found

Just keep trying and trying
It's just a matter of timing
Though the grinding is tiring
Don't let 'em stop you from smiling
Just keep trying and trying
Sooner or later you'll find it
It's surprising how inspiring
It is to see you shining
Cause in the dark of the night you're all i can see
And you sure look like a star to me

There is nothing special about me
I am just a lil star
If you try to reach out an touch me
You'll see that I'm not really that far
Oh, I may not be the brightest
Nor am I the last one you'll see
But as long as you notice, that's just fine with me
Everything's just fine with me
Everything's just fine with me

Just keep trying and trying
It's just a matter of timing
Though the grinding is tiring
Don't let 'em stop you from smiling
Just keep trying and trying
Sooner or later you'll find it
It's surprising how inspiring
It is to see you shining
Cause in the dark of the night you're all i can see
And you sure look like a star to me

There is nothing special about me
I am just a lil star
I've been running and jumping, but barely
Getting, getting over the bar
I plan on being much more than I
Am but that's in due time
But until then I'm guilty,
And being humans my crime
Just Being human that is my crime
Being human that is my crime

*chorus*

Adios!
